On July 16, 1999 I thought my world was over - My 10 year old Min. Schnauzer Lucie passed away very unexpectedly. I never thought I would make it without her as she was my "special girl" that I bonded to like no other dog I had ever had. |

About a month later, I got a call from Janet (who I have been friends with for years) and she told me of a puppy that was going to be needing a home - she didn't know if I was ready - but I agreed to go see the puppy. The puppy had a severe ear infection that made it impossible for her to hold her head up straight, she just looked to the left and back a little, but she was just the cutest bundle of fluff I had ever seen and I didn't care that she was crooked and had some balance problems! I figured she was in God's hands and we would do all we could for her and hope for the best! On Sunday, August 20, 1999, Abbie-Rose came to live with us (and our 8 year old Bichon Emma!) |

After months of vet visits and antibiotics, she finally got a clean bill of health. Her ears finally healed (including the perforated ear drum) and the infection was GONE! Her head was straight, and she could hear perfect in both ears! We enrolled her in obedience school in March of 2000 and she graduated the first week of May. She is now in school for Agility, where she is learning how to do doggie obstacle courses - she was made for this type of training, she loves to jump and run. She is a little peanut of a thing - only 13 lbs. but she keeps up with the big kids and does very well. |

We just celebrated Abbie's first Birthday on May 26th - She made it - and the reason she made it is because of Janet Loreck and all the other volunteers at the Miniature Schnauzer Rescue Service of New England! If it had not been for rescue, Lord knows what would have become of the little girl we call Abbie-Rose - she is the light of our lives here and she helped me get through a loss that I never thought I would be able to get through. She is the sweetest little dog, loves to cuddle and kiss and she is simply beautiful - Just look at her pictures - I urge everyone who reads this story to support schnauzer rescue and find a little extra space in your heart for a little darling that really needs you!
